SKT Welfare is delivering zakat in Syria, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Bangladesh, Tanzania – where needed the most.
How can zakat be paid?
Donors may choose from our zakat applicable projects OR choose to have their zakat delivered in the form of cash by donating to our Zakat Fund.
Where is the Zakat Fund delivered?
Currently, this Ramadan, the zakat fund is specifically being hand delivered to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
How does it work?
Zakat is delivered directly to the beneficiaries in the form of cash, giving beneficiaries the independence to buy what they truly need.
SKT Welfare has stores in villages and also run mobile shops in camps, allowing people to select the items they need, for example baby’s milk. SKT are able to source stock at lower prices from selected suppliers.
Why give your zakat in the form of cash?
People know better what they need. For example, SKT Welfare visited many camps and found different families in need of different items - Many needed baby milk, not commonly in any food parcel for example.
It is a dire need for many babies as their mothers are unable to breast feed due to being malnourished themselves. Others needed clothes – one particular woman stated that she only owned one pair of clothing which she had been wearing for 4 years.
Giving zakat as cash, to specifically selected families, truly allows them to buy what is needed the most at that given time. These families are living without what we would consider the basics – the bare minimum.
