Floods are Wreaking Havoc Across Yemen
In addition to enduring one of the most severe famines and humanitarian crises of our time, Yemen is now struggling with catastrophic flash flooding. Heavy rains have flooded various regions, including Sana, Marib, Taiz, and the Hodeida governorate, leading to devastating consequences.
Since the flooding began in July, hundreds of lives have been lost, and more than 290,000 people have been affected. This disaster follows the tragic events in Taiz, where heavy rains a week earlier claimed 15 lives and caused significant damage to homes and infrastructure. The floods have destroyed homes, farms, and critical infrastructure, leaving many families—already displaced—without shelter, food, or clean water.
Yemen Needs Your Help Now
Already, 21.6 million people in Yemen—two-thirds of the population—are in dire need of humanitarian assistance and protection services. Among them, more than 17 million are food insecure, with 3.2 million experiencing acute food insecurity, and over 4.5 million are internally displaced.
With floods worsening the food and water shortages, families are now facing increased risks of starvation and diseases as forecasts predict torrential rains will continue into September, potentially worsening the situation further.
Now more than ever, delivering critical aid and supporting the people is essential.
