Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city, is once again at the epicenter of a humanitarian catastrophe. After years of fragile calm, the city was plunged into chaos on November 27, 2024, as insurgent groups breached western Aleppo with car bombs and engaged in violent clashes, marking the first major attack on the city in years. This devastating attack has left a trail of destruction, with countless civilians killed, injured, or displaced.
Families Fleeing in Fear
Right now, countless families in Aleppo face a living nightmare. Many, including the elderly, women, and children, already displaced before, are now caught in yet another wave of violence, uncertainty, and unimaginable hardship..
The humanitarian situation is dire. Thousands of families have been forced to flee their homes, seeking safety amidst the chaos. Essential services are disrupted, and there is an urgent need for food, shelter, medical care, and other basic necessities.
The need is urgent
The scale of need is staggering. Aleppo’s suffering is part of a broader Syrian crisis, where over 16.7 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. To make matters worse, more than half a million returnees and refugees from Lebanon have poured into Syria since September, further straining already fragile support systems, especially in Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama, where families are facing the harsh winter cold without food, medical care, or even basic necessities like blankets and mattresses.
Time is critical—our swift action can bring comfort and dignity to those most need it.
