Morocco has been struck by a powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake, leaving a devastating trail of destruction and claiming the lives of at least 2,862 individuals.
Rescuers in Morocco still trying to find survivors of a massive earthquake that killed over 2,901 people and destroyed rural communities near the epicentre.
Officials stated the death toll had grown to at least 2,901 people, with over 5,530 injured, many of whom were critically ill.
The death toll is anticipated to grow higher as rescuers search for survivors among the rubble of collapsed dwellings in isolated sections of the High Atlas mountains.

Many of the fatalities are said to be in remote villages near the Atlas Mountains area. Relief efforts are urgently underway.
Search for the Missing Continues
According to Moroccan official television, the quake near Al-Haouz has affected "more than 18,000 families."
Moroccan senator and former minister Lahcen Haddad described the difficulties of reaching remote areas, saying, "Sometimes the roads are not paved, so you have to bring in the army in order to get to the population that's affected, and then you start rescue missions at the same time you're evacuating some of the injured."
Rescue teams have also had to deal with rock avalanche that have blocked access roads into the highlands.
Efforts to find individuals trapped in the rubble resumed in Taalat N'Yaacoub, around 90 kilometres (56 miles) south of Marrakesh. Mohamed Ait Ighral waited anxiously having already lost nine members of his family, praying that his final grandchild would be preserved.
