Charity holds a significant place in Islam, embodying values of compassion, empathy, and selflessness. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized its virtues in numerous authentic hadiths. For instance, he said, "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity" (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 604). This highlights how acts of charity not only benefit others but also serve as a source of protection and reward for the giver in the Hereafter.
Another profound hadith states, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him" (Sahih Muslim, 1631). This underscores the enduring impact of charity, especially when it supports causes that continue to benefit people over time, such as building wells or schools. Moreover, the Prophet (peace be upon him) encouraged secret charity, saying, "A man who gives in charity and conceals it so much so that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given, will be among those shaded by Allah on the Day of Judgment" (Sahih al-Bukhari, 1423). These teachings inspire Muslims to give generously and sincerely, seeking only Allah's pleasure.
