Ramadan Kareem!
Out of the 5.3 million population in Palestine, 1.79 million Palestinians, or a third of the population, suffer from food insecurity. More than 62 percent, or 1.1 million people, of the total food-insecure Palestinians, are severely food insecure. The majority of these people (90 percent) live in the Gaza Strip.
This Ramadan I will attempt to run 150km throughout the month to fundraise food for families in Palestine. This will be extremely challenging for me as I will balance fasting, running, and my final year of university. I would really appreciate your support, whether that is donating or sharing to help spread the word and motivate me! (I will be posting updates on here & run keeper!)
Why donate food to Palestine?
Vulnerable communities around the globe are in need of nutritious food more than ever before. In these unprecedented times, the spread of Coronavirus has made access to good, nutritious food even more difficult, but more importantly for those in need.
With high unemployment rates, low income, and conflict on their doorstep, Palestinians in Gaza face a daily struggle to feed their families. Blockades have seriously limited trade in and out of Gaza, resulting in the skyrocketing price of food and the rampant food insecurity throughout the area.
Since the conflict first broke out in 2014, SKT Welfare has been on the ground in Gaza hand-delivering food parcels to families in need. The charity is fully committed to helping our brothers and sisters in Palestine by providing them with nutritious food parcels that will feed a family of five for an entire month.
Life-Saving Food Distributions:
The majority of SKT's food distributions are carried out in Khuza’a, a beautiful Palestinian community that has unfortunately been hit very hard by the surrounding conflict. Every penny donated to the Food Appeal provides some of the most vulnerable people in Gaza with healthy food for a whole month.
The Charity:
SKT work with marginalised and vulnerable communities including with orphans and widows to help them build better futures. With their 100% donation policy, you can rest assured that every penny of your donation will go directly to those who need it most.
