SKT Welfare has undertaken several different projects in Greece.
Since 2015, given the overwhelming number of refugees in the country, we
increased our efforts in relation to provision for them. The charity
provided refugees with water, clothes, food, healthcare and temporary
shelter; and also assisted in the burial of those who tragically lost
their lives during the perilous journey. This was some of the most
harrowing work our staff and volunteers have ever experienced.
An example of one of the campaigns for the refugees in Greece, was
Fleece4Greece; where a 40ft container was sent to the Greek island of
Lesbos, consisting of gloves, winter hats, fleeces and socks. The
refugees residing in Greece risked their lives in crossing the
Mediterranean Sea, arriving into the country with barely any
resources.
