Al-Huda General Hospital was built and funded solely by SKT Welfare, located in Northern Syria near Aleppo; headed by a dedicated team of surgeons.
It comprises of an Emergency Room which can deal with minor surgical procedure, a six-bed ICU unit, a fully equipped operating theatre, an X-Ray and ultrasound machine, sterilisation room, pharmacy, laboratory and wash room. There is also a clinic within the hospital which is dedicated to less critical patients and minor injuries, and the hospital is also equipped to treat patients in general surgery, neonatal, internal medicine, thoracic and vascular surgery.
In January 2014 following heightened security concerns for the welfare of both patients and staff, the hospital was strategically relocated to an industrial part of Aleppo. The hospital is currently serving 13 towns and 110 villages, targeting those who are traumatised and require orthopaedics or neurosurgery. It’s currently treating 350 patients on a daily basis and approximately 23,890 operations have been performed to date.
It is currently the only hospital providing care for an estimated population of just under one million people Over 90 medical staff at the hospital work tirelessly to serve those in need including physicians, specialist surgeons, nurses, radiographers, and pharmacists. Additionally, there are 30 non- medical employees dedicated to management, cleaning, operations and security. 10 fully equipped ambulances serve Al-Huda, out of a total of 92 that were sent to Syria over 3 aid convoys in the preceding years.
The hospital is the only remaining functional medical and surgical facility in its area, and through your generous donations, continues to make a significant difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of Syrians. It is without a doubt a life-changing and life-saving project.
